Artist Retreat – inverness
Since we’re 1000 feet high, we can elevate your life too; It leaves you better then it found you!
Our home is perched at the top of Inverness Ridge with a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean, Farallon Islands, and the highest mountains of Point Reyes National Seashore. Absolute peace, quiet and fresh air, a five minute stroll from the park trails, a stay at the Artist Retreat is a deeply moving experience. Created by Blair and Goodwin from their design, this retreat has all the comforts of a lodge in the woods: a bath large enough for two, double shower heads, lots of towels and linens, a gourmet kitchen with a Dynasty range, and internet wi-fi (70 meg/sec), a giant living/dining room with amazing picture windows and a 20 foot ceiling. The house is a green design, with passive solar heating plus a Danish Woodstove and central heating. The bathroom is tiled with tumbled marble. The house is ideally suited for a couple.
There are lots of books and magazines to read, a flat screen inch TV (Apple TV but no cable) and a really good sound system. We have a high speed wireless internet connection. If you have a wifi entertainment player consider bringing it if you’re a movie fiend.
The Artist Retreat is available but popular dates fill up so make timely arrangements!
The best way to book is through Airbnb. Rates vary with the season but they are around $350 a night, plus 14% hotel tax. Check in is at 4pm, check out is at noon, so we have time to prepare for the new guests. Dogs are fine if they are not barkers and well cared for; $60 per stay. Sorry, no cats. There is a $90 cleaning fee.
There is high demand for our house. Please realize that many people have been renting it for extended stays - both to escape the virus and to work from the house using our (fastest in West Marin) wi-fi to connect. So if you want to stay please book well in advance. The best way to book is through Airbnb, as only they provide liability insurance. We are in a forest zone and insurers have declined coverage for our guests.
Child-proofing is tricky with our place due to stairs and tools in the drawers, hence we discourage 2-6 year old kids, although we love them. Babies are ok, as are older kids.
Point Reyes is a nature lover's dream vacation. It is ideal for kayaking, horse riding, swimming in Tomales Bay, hiking, both mountain and road biking and one of the best places to bird watch in the USA. The home of the organic food movement. Put Strauss organic cream in your coffee. Savor local eggs with Nieman Ranch bacon. Slurp an oyster, crack a local crab or barbeque a wild salmon.
