Yosemite Valley is nicest when you are away from the crowds. One place to be is along the Merced River in the western end of the Valley. This is where I found this great old oak tree, inspired by a similar scene done by A. Adams, whose print I always admired.

I used a Toyo Field film camera on 4x5” film, a 180mm lens, a tripod and black and white film. The negative was scanned with a wet mount system. The image was adjusted in photoshop for contrast, and burned and dodged. The image was then printed on an archival Canon Printer on archival paper. This is a very detailed image that can be enlarged well.
